From Blogs:
- I hadn’t heard of any of the books on this list of top 5 books for becoming a better neighbor. The More-with-Less cookbook looks especially interesting. (My favorite book on being a good neighbor is The Art of Neighboring.)
- The IMB shares 10 ways you can help with the Syrian refugee crisis
- From The Gospel Coalition, 5 ways to minister to women in crisis
- We ran this post from Greg Lucas back in 2013, but I still love it—The God Who Goes before You (on trusting God to care for our children when we’re gone).
From Books:
Kristen Strong released her book Girl Meets Change this week! I’m still reading because so much of it applies to our current season of change. I do love this quiz, Is Change Your Friend or Enemy?
From My Bible:
As I’m preparing for 31 Days of Self-Care for Special-Needs Moms, I keep coming back to John 15:5
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Around the House:
Last week it felt like we were super busy outside of the house each day with lots of appointments. This week was calmer, with the usual school day rhythm.
I got the gifts for Special-Needs Parents Appreciation Month in the mail! Glad we wrapped that up and I’m looking forward to an even bigger and better celebration next year.
The boys and I visited a new park one afternoon when James was eager to go anywhere else (he asked for Sonic and get a slush, friends’ house play blocks, church, school, doctors, take David to theatre, and “bowling see Miss Jess?”).
David and I woke up Wednesday and decided we wanted to go to the beach. We called Grandma and a friend to invite them along. There weren’t many people there and the waves were big—a perfect beach day.
