It’s show week for my actors (Lee and David for this show!) so we’ve been super busy getting costumes together, locating last minute props, and running lines. The performances are this weekend and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together for them. James and I have had lots of one-on-one time and will have lots more this weekend. The weather has been nice so we’re spending time outside. We may even blow up the swimming pool tomorrow!
Here are my favorites from the week:
From blogs:
- From Kara at Not Alone, Mother’s Day—It’s Complicated
We’ve grown through things we never thought we’d survive.
- Sarah Authur’s top 10 tips for getting it done (and by it, she means writing). I’ve fallen behind on my own writing projects so this was helpful.
“’I am not an angel,’ I asserted; ‘and I will not be one till I die: I will be myself. Mr. Rochester, you must neither expect nor exact anything celestial of me–for you will not get it, any more than I shall get it of you: which I do not at all anticipate.’”
- Andrew Petterson responds to Bono’s claim that there’s lots of dishonesty in Christian art: Helping Bono Find What He’s Looking For. I have found more beautiful, honest Christian artistry in the last year than ever before so I agree with Petterson. It’s there. You just may need to look harder to find it.
- My friend Teri Lynne and her husband Scott are doing a series on marriage prayers. You don’t want to miss it!
From books:
I finished the Grisha series last week and read The Serpent King ($1.99 on Kindle right now) This week I’m reading Six of Crows.
From my Bible:
Lee preached from Esther last Sunday, right after our time at Exponential (a church planting conference). A quote from the conference lined up with the call Mordecai gave to Esther.
“For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” – Mordecai in Esther 4:14
