As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. Genesis 50:20

A friend of my bent down to help her son tie his shoe at the grocery store and a woman walking by said, “Isn’t he old enough to tie his own shoes?” Ugh. We’ve all been there, right? When it seems like a simple trip to the grocery store is more trouble than it’s worth if we have to endure stares, unwanted advice, and judgment from other people. They don’t all mean it for evil, but if they truly wanted to be good, they would offer smiles and encouragement instead, right?

Some days it feels like everything and everyone are against us. More than once I’ve told Lee the hardest part about autism isn’t the autism itself, it’s other people’s reactions. I’ve googled “going off the grid” while sitting in my car crying after a few hard incidents.

But no matter how much it feels like others are against, us we know God is for us. He gives us strength to endure. He makes our kids brave when they face new challenges. And He can turn any bad situation into an opportunity for good. Isn’t that amazing?

God, even when it seems like everything and everyone are against us, help us to remember You are for us.
