Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.” John 9:3
In this passage in John, Jesus and His disciples walked past a blind man the disciples asked who had sinned, this man or his parents. Jesus said it wasn’t the result of sin; it was an opportunity for God to display His power and get glory through this man’s life.
It’s true for any hard circumstance we face. When we continue to trust God and display the fruit of the Spirit, He gets glory. Jesus Himself set an example for us in Gethsemane, “Then he said to them, ‘My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.’ And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, ‘My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.’” He knew God would work through His suffering. That He would use it for His glory.
When your family faces a tough time, trust that God is working in your circumstances to bring glory to Himself. Your pain isn’t wasted. Nothing is in God’s overall plan!
Help us to remember our hardest circumstances will bring glory to You.
