… learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. Isaiah 1:17
When we pray to have a heart like God’s two things happen: our hearts are moved by what moves His heart and He empowers us to act on His behalf. We can’t right every wrong or fight against every injustice, but we can be aware of the needs around us and the passions that move us.
Those of us who are special-needs parents often seek justice and correct oppression on behalf of our kids who can’t stand up for themselves. Our kids on the spectrum who are more independent often see the world as very black and white and we can empower them to use their voices and talents to stand up for the injustices they see, to even become self-advocates and encouragers.
God sees the people we often look right past, but when we pray to have a heart like His, He will use us and our kids for His glory.
God, help us to have a heart like Yours: to learn to do good, seek justice, correct oppression, bring justice to the fatherless, and plead the widow’s cause.
