“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.” John 15:5 (CSB)

I’ve heard it said, “Autism is one word for a millions stories” and that is so true. Devoting a month to praying Scripture for our kids is powerful for them and for us, but each verse applies to us differently. Some of our kids can grasp concepts and facts that others can’t. Even the concept of God is understood in a million different ways by our kids, and for some of them (like my James), it’s hard to know exactly what they may understand or believe.

But praying for James’s faith is the most important prayer I can pray, and this verse reminds me of the simple idea of abiding. Not striving, not wrestling, not arguing—just abiding. When I abide in Him I can trust Him with James’s future.

Pray with me today for your kids (and for yourself as well),

“Help our children to abide in Christ, for apart from Him, they can do nothing.”
